500 Tokaji Oremus Late Harvest 500ml 2023
The Tokaji wine region lies 220 km north-east of Budapest at the confluence of the Tisza and Bodrog rivers. The Zemplén Mountains are volcanic, rising in typically sudden cones from the north edge of the Great Plain.
Two rivers, the Bodrog and the Tisza converge at the southern tip of the range where Tokaj Hill rises above the villages of Tokaj and Tarcal. From the Plain come warm summer winds, from the mountains shelter, and from the rivers the rising autumn mists that promote botrytis.
Tokaji was the first wine knowingly to be made from botrytized or, noble rotten grapes. The conditions that cause the rot, the shriveling of the grapes, and the intense concentration of their sugar, acidity and flavor are unique to the Tokaj region.
After fermentation the wine is stabilised and matured for several months in tanks or barrels (the proportion of new and used barrels will vary according to the wine) on the fine lees. Late harvest wines are matured for four to six months whilst Sweet Szamorodni wine spends at least one year in our historical cellars.
Each batch is tasted throughout its maturation. A final blend is created and bottling takes place. The wine is then further matured in bottle prior to release.
Spicy cuisine such as Thai, fresh fruits or fruit based desserts.
Pale gold colour with delicate citrus and spicy aromas.
Light and refreshing on the palate with hints of white peach and honey. It has an excellent acid balance, a smooth, silky texture and a clean, long, crisp finish.
