Description

Forty-five years later, we’re more confident than ever in our wines, and more curious than ever about our vineyards. The more we discover about the connections between soil, season, and vine, the more we realize how much we still don’t know. And that’s exactly where we want to be—honoring our heritage while embracing the endless possibility of learning from our place.

Eight months in French oak and partial malolactic fermentation have woven seamlessly into the fruit, creating a wine of real substance and structure. The concentration speaks to the quality of this sub-region’s high-altitude fruit.

100% Chardonnay grown in the Piccadilly Valley, Adelaide Hills.

Barrel fermented exclusively in French oak barriques (40% new) for 8 months; only partial natural malolactic fermentation.

Jeff Grosset may be best known for his superb Clare Valley rieslings, but he is also very much at the top of his game with a brace of chardonnays from the Adelaide Hills: the Piccadilly and the new-release Lenswood. In the 2025 vintage the Piccadilly was my pick; impressively Burgundian with compelling youthful vivacity. A floral nose leads on to a classic cool-climate palate where citrus and stone fruit have combined harmoniously. There is length here, and a nifty combo of structure and immediate drinkability. Partial malo and quality French oak maturation for 10 months have added to the palate appeal. I'd pair this with roast pork and lashings of crackling. Only 500 cases were made so moving quickly may be advantageous.

Light, bright lemon colour; creamy yeast sur-lie characters, the palate delicate, lightly framed but with good intensity. Some green herb and green apple notes. Refined, subtle chardonnay which is discreetly oaked and fruit driven. Long finish. A fine, reserved style that will reward cellaring.
