Description

Forty-five years later, we’re more confident than ever in our wines, and more curious than ever about our vineyards. The more we discover about the connections between soil, season, and vine, the more we realize how much we still don’t know. And that’s exactly where we want to be—honoring our heritage while embracing the endless possibility of learning from our place.

Brilliant in colour and vibrant on the nose, this Pinot Noir captures the Adelaide Hills at its most alluring. Generous and food-friendly now, yet the structure suggests real cellaring potential for those inclined to wait.

Drink on release or cellar for 10 years.

100% pinot noir – multiple clones including 115, D5V12 and D4V2.

50% whole bunch fermented and manually (foot) plunged.

Matured for 12 months exclusively in French oak barriques, 50% new.

Review
Very bright and youthful looking purple colour of medium depth; the aromas are ultra-fresh and young, with some banana esters still lingering, together with red cherry, raspberry and a hint of violet. Intense and concentrated but also light on its feet, this is a really elegant pinot noir with tremendous penetrating flavour and prodigious palate length. This is still just a baby but should turn out to be a top wine with a bit more time. 2027–2040

Review
This is a wine of curiosity and charm, miracle and wonder. It’s light, svelte, complex and insistent at once. It tastes of an assortment of berries – boysenberry, blueberry, blackberry and something like raspberry or certainly a redder berry character – but then too there are spice and floral notes, and smoky oak too. It all rattles around a fraction at this early stage of its life but even by its release date – in April 2026 – it should have come together, and from next year onwards it will present beautifully. It’s got something, this wine; something special.
