Longrow RED Pinot Noir Cask 7 Year Old Whisky
Wine barrel maturation continues to divide whisky lovers; some love the innovation, whilst others don't believe it is a particularly great match. Longrow does this marriage as well as anyone and each release continues to get rave reviews. Rumours are abound that these will not continue for much longer though. Four years in Bourbon barrels was followed by three years in fresh Pinot Noir barrels from the family-owned estate of Domaine Florent Garaudet in the village of Monthelie in Burgundy.
A herbal, vegetal note is immediately apparent in notes of tomato plant and heather, along with touches of morello cherries and smoky bacon.
Sweet and savoury meet on the palate, with notes of smoked ham, wine gums, raspberry jam and honey.
Characteristic coastal notes come to the forefront in the finish of this dram.
