Thick as Thieves Plump Pinot Noir 2025
'Sometimes my job is as simple as fermenting grape juice and letting it do it's thing. Sometimes nature can throw a few curve balls and the wines need more love and attention. For me it's about making honest expressions of the variety and the site while making sure it's a great wine to drink.' - Syd
In 2009 Syd Bradford started Thick as Thieves Wines in the Yarra Valley as a virtual operation - buying in grapes and renting facilities. After years of hard yakka, he has now established a family wine business and vineyard. . . one happy little vegemite! Purchasing the Cypress Ridge vineyard in the Yarra Valley in 2012 was the game changer for Thick as Thieves… 26 year old pinot noir vines that are in a happy spot and produce Syd's flagship pinot wines.
Winemaking- 50% whole bunch fermented over 3 open pot ferments: Home block 27 year old MV6 clone (own roots) and ABEL clone (grafted); no fining or filtration
Cranberry, rosehip and beetroot and slight reductive notes when freshly opened; underlying dried herbs and ginger root.
