White wine has long been a staple of cellars and summer tables alike. But beyond its refreshing appeal lies something far more interesting: a category defined by contrast, craftsmanship and character. Great white wine isn’t just light. It’s layered.

Across the globe, winemakers shape distinctive types of white wine, each reflecting its region and rhythm. Dry white wine is where precision meets purity. These wines are lean, mineral-driven, and quietly complex. From the limestone soils of Chablis to the cool heights of the Clare Valley, they bring clarity and tension, creating a clean line from grape to glass.

At the other end, sweet white wine offers depth and generosity. Crafted from grapes left to ripen longer on the vine, they capture natural sugars and aromatic intensity. Expect notes of ripe peach, citrus marmalade or gentle spice. These wines aren’t sugary, they’re structured. They hold their shape with acidity, making them just as suited to cheese boards as dessert courses.

In between lies a broad spectrum of styles. Chardonnay can be rich and layered, especially when aged in oak. Cullen’s from Margaret River is a great example, offering depth without heaviness. Pinot Gris brings a soft, rounded texture, often with notes of pear or gentle spice. Sauvignon Blanc leans crisp and bright, whether it’s the lean style of Sancerre or the more expressive versions from Shaw + Smith in the Adelaide Hills. This is where white wine proves its range, from aperitif to main, casual sipping to cellar-worthy vintage.

Each bottle at The Reserve Cellar reflects a deeper story of place, of people and of possibility. Whether you favour the finesse of dry white wine, the richness of sweet white wine, or are simply curious to explore different types of white wine, our collection has been hand-selected to offer both confidence and discovery.
